On Saturday 24th February the expedition members found themselves lucky to be involved in an aircraft pull. With the kind permission of the Station Commander of Royal Air Force Northolt, the team pulled a BAe 146 aeroplane along 100m of RAF Northolt taxiway using only shear strength and will power!
Family and friends of the expedition members turned up to watch the group pull the aircraft and after a thorough warm-up the main exercise began. Pulling the aircraft was "a tough job", said one of the cadets. However the task was completed after an extremely encouraging display of team work.
Also present were a team from Barclays. Barclays has promised to match, pound for pound, everything that their team of volunteers raises through sponsorship for the event.
Providing the aircraft and supporting us for the day was 32 (The Royal) Squadron. The squadron operates the BAe 146 for royal, government and high-ranking military travel. The aircraft can carry 21 passengers and has a range of 1,500 miles. Fully loaded it weighs thirty tonnes.
Below are some photos from the event. More photographs are located in the Photo Gallery.
