I joined the ATC as soon as I reached the age of 13 at 1159 (Edmonton) Squadron and have enjoyed every moment of my cadet life. I have reached the rank of Sergeant and have just been made Drum Major of the squadron band.
My achievements include gaining a First Aid at Work certificate, a gliding scholarship, completing RAFWARMA twice and the Nijmegen International Marches in Holland. I have my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s award and have just completed my silver award. I am looking forward to doing the expedition part of my gold award in Ghana.
I have been on numerous camps both at squadron and wing level but I especially enjoyed an overseas camp to RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus.
In my time outside cadets I am in my second year at Southgate College studying to be a chef. I work, part time, as a chef at ’The Plough’ Crews Hill.
I will reach the age of 18 during the expedition and can think of no better place to celebrate my ‘coming of age’!
I am really looking forward to seeing an amazing part of the world, meeting new people, making new friends and being pushed to my limits and beyond.
