As soon as I hit my 13th Birthday I joined my local Air Cadet Squadron in Ruislip (114 Squadron). This is where I have spent the last nine years of my ATC career, building strong relationships within a team environment and sharing the knowledge I have gained through experiences and training with others.

The ATC has given me so many opportunities. For example, in my first year as an Air Cadet I went flying and gliding, attended an Annual Camp at RAF Sealand, went shooting and represented my Squadron and Wing at a number of sporting events achieving my first Wing Blue. The years to follow were fantastic and by the 2002 my friends and I, between us, had a number of awards, promotions and great memories.

Then in 2003 I completed the Nijmegen march in Holland, went on a Community Sports Leader Award course at RAF Cosford where we trained with the PTIs! And then... I went on the first ever Air Cadet expedition to Ecuador! Expedition Volcano Eagle - WOW! What a grounding experience! Ecuador was beautiful and the expedition team were fantastic, dealing with things such as altitude sickness, nose bleeds and more! Then in 2005 we went to Mongolia for Expedition Steppes Eagle -beautiful!

Now we head to Ghana for Expedition Jubilee Eagle, where we’ll get the chance to “Help Ghana Celebrate” their 50th Anniversary of independence, refurbish a school and wander purposefully for five days in the jungle.

Be sure to look out for the expedition on London Tonight as ITN are coming out there for a few days with us!
