B Flight › Cadet Warrant Officer: Cameron Green

Cameron Green's photo

I joined the Air Training Corps in September 2001, at the age of 14, as a member of 16F (Wood Green & Hornsey) Squadron. This was not my local squadron but I was persuaded to join by a friend of mine, and it was the best decision I have made in my entire life. Being a member of the ATC has given me so many opportunities I have lost count.

I have reached the dizzying rank of Cadet Warrant Officer and have enjoyed every minute of my career within the ATC. I have completed a Gliding Scholarship at RAF Syerston and currently hold my Silver Wings (Solo completed), which was an amazing experience. I have also had the chance to complete my Millennium Volunteers Scheme and Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, and look forward to completing my Gold while away with Jubilee Eagle.

I enjoy shooting and currently hold my qCWHT on the .22 rifle, my WHT on the .22, L98 and L81 and have obtained my Region Marksman. I am also lucky enough to be the solo trumpeter in our squadron band, which won the Novice Band competition at Region Field Day 2006, which I am very proud of, considering we have only existed as a band since spring 2006.

One of my proudest achievements was being awarded the Deputy Lieutenant’s Cadet for Haringey 2006, by Major Warn and completing my Air Cadet Communicators Award, which took 9 months to complete.

I was the Training Officer at 16F for 18 months and after requested by wing, agreed to transfer to 268 Tottenham Squadron to become Training Officer there, which I am currently enjoying very much, although it is a challenge.

Outside of the Air Cadets I am currently on a gap year before I go to University where I plan to study Medicine and hopefully one day become a doctor...if I survive the expedition. Jubilee Eagle is going to be an amazing opportunity and will actually be my first time abroad, so fingers crossed because I can hardly wait.
