My journey in the Air Training Corps began back in 2001 when I saw an Air Cadet poster showing the vast range of opportunities available to young people on a notice board at school. I was quickly inspired by the thought of being able to fly and I decided to join the 85 (Enfield & Southgate) Squadron.
Having been a member of the ATC for so long I have been able to take part in numerous activities. My favourite of which would have to be the 100-mile Nijmegen walk in Holland. Completing the challenge was very rewarding and taught me a lot about team spirit. I am also involved with the Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award which is great fun, and I have carried out a 4-day expedition navigating around the Peak District.
Last summer I went on the annual camp to Germany and had a brilliant time. Not only did we learn about the events of the world wars and see historical memorials but we also got to go to a theme park and just generally have a good time out there. I met a lot of really nice people from different ATC squadrons and we all became really good friends.
In my spare time I enjoy outdoor activities and have gone on to complete my BELA award. I enjoy playing all sports and I am a member of the Enfield Kickboxing Academy. I have recently started DJing with a friend after completing my sound engineering qualification. In the day time I am the A&E receptionist at Whittington Hospital and thoroughly enjoy helping and interacting with people.
I am looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead in Ghana, both helping to renovate the school and the jungle trekking!
