I have been a member of the Air Training Corps since 1998. I joined as a cadet at 1374 (East Barnet) Squadron at the age of 15. Since then I have completed a Gliding Scholarship and represented the Squadron in various sports events such as swimming, basketball, football and athletics. I have taken part and helped organise adventure training exercises, expeditions and squadron camps to Danemead and Weybourne, also taking part in The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. I reached the rank of Cadet Warrant Officer, finishing my time as a cadet with a Microlight flying scholarship in 2003. I continued the Microlight course, where I achieved a National Private Pilots Licence.
I stayed at 1374 Squadron as a Civilian Instructor and have now moved back into uniform as an Adult ATC Sergeant. I volunteer at East Barnet squadron as the Squadron Adjutant and Shooting Officer. I enjoy various outdoor activities within and outside Cadets. I am a ski instructor and after having achieved the Basic Expedition Leaders Award last year, I am now working towards becoming a Mountain Leader. Outside Cadets, I graduated last summer from a degree in European Social and Political Studies and am hoping to start a Masters in International Relations and Diplomacy towards the end of 2007.
I was part of the staff team of Steppes Eagle going to Mongolia in 2004, where I completed my Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, and which too was a fantastic experience. I am very excited about the Expedition Jubilee Eagle, the African Jungle (not thinking about all the creepy-crawlies) and above all the work on the Krontang village school.
